The Sun King's lost gardens in virtual reality

A VR exhibition at the Château de Versailles

This sensory adventure plunges visitors into the fascinating world of the 17th century, at the crossroads of history, technology and stagecraft. AP CONCEPT is behind this ambitious project, and has entrusted us with the production of the sets for this unique exhibition.

The Sun King's lost gardens in virtual reality

Le Palace of Versailles is opening a new chapter in its history with an immersive experience that is as poetic as it is innovative. Using virtual reality, visitors are invited to travel back in time to 1682, alongside the famous gardener André Le Nôtre, to explore gardens that have now disappeared: the Royal Menagerie, the Labyrinth grove, the Téthys grotto...

Expectations

Recreating the exotic, mysterious and dreamlike atmosphere of the forgotten gardens of the Sun King was the focus of this immersive project at the Château de Versailles.

It wasn't simply about telling the story of history, but about bringing it to life visually, immersing visitors in a world faithful to the 17th century from their very first steps into the exhibition hall.

To bring this journey back in time to life, our teams have created entirely bespoke immersive sets:

  • Exotic animals printed on fire-retardant M1 wood and die-cut punctuate the space, recalling the richness of the Royal Menagerie.
  • A PVC-free wallpaper wall decoration, with rich and colourful textures, recreates the graphic ambiances of bygone groves.
  • Frost-effect vinyl window decals, finely cut, evoke the lush vegetation and dreamlike sculptures of lost gardens.

A complete project, from design to installation, to create a stage setting worthy of the place and its history.

Don't miss this original botanical and artistic experience, to be discovered in the sumptuous setting of the Château de Versailles until 4 January 2026!
